An Animal Slaughtered by a Deobandi

Question

On ‘Id al-Adha I slaughtered several he-goats and several buffaloes with my own hand. I also recited the supplications that are found in the hadith and so on, and slaughtered after saying “bismillah, Allahu akbar.” I am a Muslim, I pray my prayers more or less regularly and keep the fasts, and I believe with my heart in Allah the Pure, in His Book and in His Messenger. My fault is indeed only this much: that I agree with the words of the ‘ulama of Deoband.

Answer

Whatever a Muslim slaughters after saying “bismillah, Allahu akbar” — buffalo and goat alike — is all halal. The path of the ‘ulama of Deoband, by the grace of the Exalted, is in exact accordance with the Holy Qur’an, the noble hadith, Hanafi fiqh and the honoured saints (awliya’).
