Is the Du'a Immediately after the Prayer or after a Pause?

Question

Zayd asks: should one ask du'a after leaving a short pause between the salam of the fard prayer and the du'a, or not?

Answer

The noble hadith contains the command [to make] du'a after the prayer, and there is no mention of a pause in the hadith; by “after”, apparently, “immediately after” is meant. Nevertheless, if a slight pause occurs, there is no harm in that either.
