Making Audible Du'a a Fixed Practice after Every Prayer

Question

An imam has made it his practice in the mosque to recite aloud every day after the Fajr prayer the last three verses of Surat al-Hashr, the kalima tayyiba, salawat and a particular du'a, and the muqtadis are also told to recite [along]. What is [the ruling on] making this a practice without ever missing it?

Answer

Teaching is a very good and beneficial thing, but for everyone to recite in this way after the prayer, aloud, regularly, without ever missing it, as a fixed obligation (iltizam) is not right, because it gives rise to the impression that this too is the final part or completion of the prayer. Therefore this practice should be stopped.
