Asking Du'a Aloud
Question
Is it better (afdal) for the imam to ask du'a quietly, or aloud? Is the du'a part of the prayer or not?
Answer
Asking du'a quietly is better (afdal). If the aim is to teach the du'a, there is no harm in [making it] aloud either, provided that this loud voice does not disturb the prayer of other worshippers. The prayer ends with the salam; the du'a after it is not part of the prayer.
