The Du'a after the Zuhr, Maghrib and 'Isha' Prayers
Question
How brief a du'a, and which du'a, after the Zuhr and 'Isha' prayers is established from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Is the Jumu'a prayer also included in this or not? Is it permissible to shorten or lengthen the du'a?
Answer
Various words of dhikr have been transmitted: [ar]«اللهم أنت السلام…»، «أستغفر الله، أستغفر الله، أستغفر الله»[/ar] “O Allah, You are Peace…”, “I seek Allah's forgiveness, I seek Allah's forgiveness, I seek Allah's forgiveness”. But [the du'a should be] brief; if a slight addition occurs, that too is not forbidden — there is latitude.
