Sajda al-Tilawa in Ruku‘

Question

In tarawih a verse of prostration came. If [the imam] performs ruku‘ at that very verse, or one or two verses after it, and in it also makes the niyya of the prostration, is there then no need to perform sajda al-tilawa?

Answer

By this the sajda al-tilawa will be performed; however, the muqtadi who does not make the niyya of the prostration in that ruku‘ — his prostration will not be performed. Therefore the imam should not make the niyya of the prostration in ruku‘; rather, after ruku‘, by performing the prostration of the prayer, the sajda al-tilawa will be performed in any case, whether he makes…
