Sajda al-Tilawa in the 17th Juz’

Question

What is meant by the command in the Noble Qur’an to perform fourteen prostrations? And also, in one more place in the 17th juz’ a prostration is written — should that too be performed?

Answer

The meaning is that whenever one recites or hears any verse of prostration, one should prostrate; if there is no opportunity at that moment, one may do it later. But a prostration that has become wajib within the prayer — whether he recited the verse himself or his imam recited it — he must perform within the prayer itself and must not postpone it.
