Reading a Fatha in Place of a Kasra or the Reverse
Question
According to “Fatawa Dar al-‘Ulum Deoband” (89, vol. 4), reading a fatha in place of a kasra or the reverse makes the prayer fasid. Can a new person not join the congregation when [the prayer] is being repeated?
Answer
If the meaning is corrupted, the prayer will become fasid; otherwise not. And as long as the corruption of the meaning has not been established, repeating it (i‘ada) is not wajib. In such a case it is not correct for a new person to take part in the repeated prayer.
