Omitting One Word from the Middle of a Verse

Question

[The imam] began the last ruku‘ of Surah al-Hashr from “لَا يَسْتَوِىٓ” (59:20) and recited up to “وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ” (59:24), but forgot the word “مُّتَصَدِّعًا” (59:21). After the prayer ended, a certain respected religious scholar said that the prayer was not valid and should be led again. The imam said that the prayer was valid, since he had already recited the equivalent of three short verses or one long one; but a few people did not accept this.

Answer

Without doubt, the prayer is valid.
