Reciting “وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ” Instead of “وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ”
Question
In the Fajr prayer, in the first rak‘a, the imam recited Surah al-Ghashiya. Instead of “وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ” (88:2) he forgetfully recited “وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ” (88:8), so that the six verses in between were left out; he completed the sura and did not perform sajda al-sahw either. Is this prayer valid or not?
Answer
If in Surah al-Ghashiya, after “وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ”, a few verses were forgetfully left out and “وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ” was recited, then sajda al-sahw is not required; the prayer is valid.
