The Seven Qira'at Are Divinely Transmitted, Not Invented

Question

We are convinced that not a single dot of the Qur’an has changed, and that the very [text] which was revealed to the Noble Prophet ﷺ is the same one that exists to this day between the two covers [of the Mushaf]. [Yet] in the narrations of the seven reciters (qurra’ sab‘a) discrepancies are found in the vowel-signs — kasra, fatha, damma — even reaching discrepancies in the very words themselves. Does this not strike a blow against [our] belief [in the immutability of the Qur'an]?

Answer

The recitations (qira'at) of the seven reciters are likewise established from the Noble Prophet ﷺ and revealed from Allah Most High — they are not their own invention.
