Touching the Qur’an for a Patient Who Frequently Passes Wind
Question
Zayd has memorised the Noble Qur’an; now he wants to consolidate [his memorisation]. Since he often has to travel for trade, and he also suffers from a condition of [frequent] passing of wind — wind escapes him often — in this case, having performed wudu once or twice, may he repeatedly touch the Qur’an [without renewing wudu each time], or not?
Answer
In the case described, he is not [religiously] excused (ma‘dhur). He should keep a handkerchief or towel with him and hold the Qur’an through it, not touching it with his bare hand without wudu.
