Teaching the Qur’an While Seated on a Chair

Question

The respected imam (a teacher) teaches sitting on a chair in a religious madrasa where the Noble Qur’an is taught. What is the ruling on this?

Answer

Teaching in this manner — sitting on a chair while the Noble Qur’an remains below [on the floor] — is contrary to the reverence due to the Qur’an. It is necessary to abandon this practice.
