Reciting the Qur’an While Holding It on One’s Lap

Question

[Someone] recites the Noble Qur’an with it placed on his knees. Is this disrespectful or not, given that this person remains engrossed most of the time precisely in recitation?

Answer

It is better to place a cushion on the knees and put the Noble Qur’an on it — this is closer to proper etiquette.
