Abandoning Religious Publishing Work for Fear of Disrespect to the Texts
Question
A certain man says that the written religious work being carried out [nowadays] is wrong. For example, some monthly magazine or newspaper — and in them the verses of the Noble Qur’an and hadiths are printed. Many ignorant and illiterate people tear them up and throw them on the rubbish heap; so, [he says,] the sin for this falls on the one who wrote [published] them, and there is no sin on those who show the disrespect. A certain scholar, who is proud of his knowledge, says the same. What is correct?
Answer
Printing and publication take place with regard to the Noble Qur’an, its separate parts (juz’), the noble Hadith, and books of fiqh — all of them. Those who, out of ignorance or irreligion, fail to show due respect and reverence [to these texts] are themselves responsible for it. The Noble Prophet ﷺ sent a letter of invitation [to Islam] to the King of Persia.
