Du'a after the Eid Prayers
Question
Hazrat Mawlana 'Ashiq Ilahi Mirathi ﵀ wrote in his treatise al-Salat that there is no du'a after the two Eids. From this it apparently follows that there is no du'a after the Eid prayers. However, in Ahkam-i Ramadan al-Mubarak (“Rulings of Blessed Ramadan”), published this year, 1392 AH, by the Madrasa Dar al-'Ulum Deoband, it is written that there is no du'a after the khutba — from which it follows that there is du'a after the Eid prayers. Which of these two statements is correct?
Answer
Du'a specifically after the Eid prayers is not mentioned, but neither is it prohibited. In the narrations, du'a after prayer — whether fard or nafl — is mentioned in general terms; these narrations are compiled (takhrij) in 'Amal al-Yawm wa-l-Layla, and the Eid prayers are also included in this general ruling.
