Giving money to the khatib during the khutba

Question

Here, after the prayer of the two Eids, during the khutba, people get up from their places and go to give money (rupees) to the khatib, and for the khatib some people stand up to take the money, and they take it. What is the ruling on this act of the givers — that during the khutba they go to give money? If the khatib and the imam do not stop such an act, what is the ruling on their conduct according to the Shari‘a?

Answer

Such acts are not permitted during the khutba; it is necessary to listen to the khutba sitting in one place with proper respect.
