The time of the ghusl for Jumu’a and Eid
Question
If someone on the day of the two Eids performs ghusl before the break of dawn (fajr) or before sunrise, can the sunna of the two Eids be fulfilled by this or not? In “Bihishti Gawhar” (“The Heavenly Pearl”) it is stated that on the day of the two Eids performing ghusl after [the entry of] fajr is a sunna for those upon whom the Eid prayer is wajib.
Answer
If a person performs ghusl after the break of dawn and no hadath (ritual impurity) befalls him until the Eid prayer, his sunna will be fulfilled by agreement. If he performed ghusl before the break of dawn and performed the Eid prayer with that same purity, then according to Imam Abu Yusuf ﵀ the sunna is fulfilled, but according to al-Hasan ﵀ it is not fulfilled.
