Sitting between the two Jumu’a khutbas
Question
Our imam does not sit in the middle of the khutba; instead he begins to give its explanation (tafsir) or translation. Then at the end he recites a few sentences and sits down. Is this permissible?
Answer
Giving a translation or explanation of the Friday khutba separately, during the khutba, is makruh. And not sitting between the two khutbas is contrary to the sunna. So in al-Shami and Akam al-Nafa’is.
