On Which Step of the Minbar the Khutba Should Be Delivered

Question

On which step of the minbar should the khatib stand while reciting the khutba on the day of Jumu'a? It is evident that a minbar has three steps and a stairway, but on which step is it preferable to stand while reciting [the khutba]? What will be the case if someone recites the khutba standing on the first step?

Answer

The khutba will be validly performed on the second step as well; standing on the third step is the better course.
