A murahiq delivers the khutba and an adult leads the prayer
Question
If a youth — an adult or an adolescent near puberty (murahiq) — delivers the Friday khutba, and an older man, who was also present at that time from the outset, leads the prayer, is this permissible or not? Please write the answer with references to the books.
Answer
What is more virtuous and better known is that the imam and the khatib be one and the same; nevertheless, if a discerning murahiq delivers the khutba and an adult leads the prayer, this too is valid: [ar]لا ينبغي أن يصلي غير الخطيب، فإن فعل بأن خطب صبي بإذن السلطان وصلى بالغ جاز، وهو المختار.
