Calling the adhan at the grave
Question
The respected Tajuddin, of the timber depot (?): the people of the small town of Maudaha are Hanafis; at the time of burying the deceased they call the adhan at the grave. People have introduced this practice only recently, and they say it is the order of their spiritual guide. Is this permissible? The respected guide is also a Hanafi.
Answer
Calling the adhan at the grave is not established. In “Radd al-Muhtar” (vol. 1, p. 258), a reliable book of Hanafi fiqh, [the author] cites it from some Shafi‘is and then cites its refutation from the Shafi‘is themselves.
