Placing clods of earth in the grave

Question

Small clods of earth in the grave — and, after reciting verses of the Noble Qur’an [over them], those clods are placed in the grave beside the deceased. What is [the ruling on] this?

Answer

This practice is not found in the books of hadith; it is the practice of some later people, which is not a proof in the Shari‘a.
