The funeral prayer over a martyr (shahid)

Question

According to the position on which the fatwa is given, is the funeral prayer performed over a martyr (shahid) or not? If not, what will be the answer to those hadiths which state that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed over them? These hadiths are in Sharh al-Nuqaya on p. 141, from the words “ولنا” up to the words “فان قيل”. And if some hadith also establishes that the prayer was not performed, then together with that there is also the question of its narrators in terms of jarh and ta‘dil (criticism and accreditation)

Answer

According to the Hanafis, the funeral prayer is performed over a martyr (shahid): [ar]ودليله ما روى ابن عباس وابن الزبير أنه عليه الصلاة والسلام صلى على شهداء أحد مع حمزة، وكان يؤتى بتسعة بتسعة، حمزة عاشر، فيصلي عليهم، الحديث.
