The funeral prayer in an open space

Question

In our hometown a disagreement has arisen concerning the funeral prayer. We also have an Eidgah (a place of the festival prayer): some people perform the prayers of the two festivals in the Eidgah, while others — there is a mosque in the small town, and in front of this mosque, separate from it, there is an open space, and there they perform the festival prayer every year. What is [the ruling on] performing the funeral prayer in this open space?

Answer

Performing the funeral prayer in this open space is also permissible.
