Having the Expenses for Madinah Is Not a Condition for Hajj Being Fard
Question
Question: Zayd has the expenses only for going to Makka the Venerated and returning. In such a case, will it be fard upon Zayd to go for Hajj, or should he postpone the Hajj until he has the travel expenses for Madinah the Good, and then, whenever the expenses for travelling to both Sanctuaries (the Haramayn) become available, go at that time?
Answer
Whoever has the expenses for going to Makka the Venerated and returning and for performing Hajj, Hajj is binding (lazim) upon him (al-Bahr, vol. 2, p. 334). Then let him make efforts for Madinah the Good and pray to Allah: if there is room for it, let him also attain the good fortune of presenting himself there.
