Hajj Is Fard Even upon an Elderly Person When He Has the Means
Question
Question: Zayd was a small landholder. After the abolition of the landlord system, he was given bonds worth some rupees as compensation; he sold them and kept the proceeds with him as cash. He also has a few bighas (a local unit of land area) under cultivation, whose produce barely suffices for his own food and drink. For all the other necessities of life he has to spend from the cash — sparingly and in straitened circumstances.
Answer
Under these circumstances Hajj is fard upon him.
