Nikah with a Qadiani and the Establishment of Lineage
Question
(1) Is the nikah of Bakr, a Qadiani, with Zahida, a woman of sound belief, valid or not? If it is valid, then to whom will the establishment of lineage (nasab) [of the children] relate? (2) Zahida, a woman of sound belief, and Bakr contracted a nikah, and afterwards Bakr became a Qadiani: did this have any effect on the nikah or not? In both cases, to whom will the lineage relate? (3)
Answer
(1 and 2) According to the fatwas of the Ahl al-Sunna wa-l-Jama‘a, the Qadianis are outside Islam. Neither can the nikah of a Muslim woman of sound belief with any Qadiani be valid, nor can that nikah remain after the husband subsequently becomes a Qadiani; rather, the moment he becomes a Qadiani the nikah is annulled at once. The children will be counted as Muslims. (3)
