Will ‘Isa ﵇ Be a Prophet or an Ummati, and Will Revelation Come to Him?

Question

(1) One gentleman claims that Hazrat ‘Isa ﵇ will descend from heaven in the capacity of an ummati (a member of the umma) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: no revelation (wahy) will descend upon him, nor will he remain in the capacity of a prophet; and if anyone does not accept Hazrat ‘Isa ﵇ as an ummati of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, his iman does not remain intact. In his proofs he has set down only [‘Isa’s ﵇] being an ummati.

Answer

Hazrat ‘Isa ibn Maryam ﵇ is a messenger of Allah of exalted rank, who was born without a father; he discharged the duties of messengership with complete diligence. The Jews caused him great suffering and formed a harsh design against him, but Allah, Blessed and Exalted, saved him from killing and crucifixion and raised him alive to heaven.
