The Ruling When the Wudu Drain Passes Beneath the Mosque Courtyard
Question
Adjoining the veranda of the mosque on the right side there is a drain for wudu, and this drain has been taken out beneath the outer courtyard of the mosque and joins the outer wudu drain. That is to say, the water of wudu passes beneath the courtyard of the mosque. What is the ruling of the Shari‘a about this? Is it contrary to the reverence due to the mosque, and does it make any difference to the prayer or not?
Answer
If this arrangement of the drain was made at the time the mosque was built, then it is valid according to the Shari‘a, and it makes no difference to the prayer; but if the direction of this drain can be changed to some other side, that is more appropriate.
