A Qadiani’s waqf for a mosque
Question
A map shows the property of a certain mosque: it contains eight shops, indicated by eight numbers, and in the middle is the door of this mosque. In front of the shops there is some land belonging to a Qadiani, who is moreover a staunch follower of the Qadiani religion. This gentleman is endowing that very land as waqf to this mosque. Is this waqf of the Qadiani gentleman permissible for our mosque or for the mosque’s property, or not?
Answer
A Muslim who abandons his original religion, Islam, and becomes a Qadiani leaves Islam and is deemed an apostate (murtadd). No worship of an apostate is accepted. Imam Muhammad ﵀ says that in those matters in which a waqf is valid according to the sect he has entered, his waqf is valid. In this way, his waqf for a mosque is also valid.
