A vow to perform an aqiqa upon recovery
Question
A woman’s daughter fell ill. She made a vow (nadhr): “If my daughter recovers, I will perform an aqiqa in which there will be two animals.” Yet for a girl it is one goat. In such a case, are two animals necessary at the aqiqa, or will one animal suffice?
Answer
With these words no vow (nadhr) came into effect, so long as she did not say that she would slaughter these two goats and give the meat as sadaqa. Therefore, if she slaughters one goat for the aqiqa, the aqiqa will also be valid.
