Aqiqa of a girl who has reached maturity and the ruling on her hair
Question
Question: One girl is seven years old, and another girl has already reached maturity; their father is now performing their aqiqa. Will their hair have to be cut or not? Or should he cut just a little, weigh it and give silver in sadaqa? What is the ruling on this?
Answer
He should not have the hair of either of these girls cut; he should slaughter a goat and distribute the meat, raw or cooked, among the poor and friends. The original time of aqiqa is the seventh day after birth, and even that is only mustahabb, not binding and not wajib. He should give silver in sadaqa by estimate, without weighing the hair at all.
