Aqiqa at an older age

Question

Question: My daughter is twenty years old; for some reason her aqiqa could not be performed. If I now have her aqiqa performed, how should it be done?

Answer

Aqiqa is not a binding or necessary matter whose making up (qada’) would be binding. If the heart nonetheless desires it, then slaughter one goat and distribute the meat raw or cooked, or feed people with it, and the aqiqa will be done.
