A camel too has seven shares
Question
Question: “Ten may share in one camel” (al-Nasa’i). What is the meaning of the hadith of al-Nasa’i? Can ten people share in one camel, whereas what we have heard is that only seven people can share in a camel?
Answer
This narration is the evidence of some of the Zahiris (ashab al-zawahir, literalists); it is not the madhhab of any of the four imams. Rather, the position of the majority (jumhur) is that in a camel too only seven may share, no more!
