Which talaq results from “I gave talaq, gave, gave”?

Question: Zayd said in anger: “Tell my brother-in-law to keep his sister with him: میں نے طلاق دیا دیا دیا (‘I have given talaq — given, given’).” After that Zayd went to another house, and there too, when the women asked, he said: “ہاں میں نے طلاق دیدیا” (“Yes, I have given talaq”). In a third place too, when asked, he said: “Yes, I have given talaq.” Which talaq will there be in this case?

Answer

In this case a major (mughallaza) divorce has taken effect; now it is not permissible to keep her without halala. However, if Zayd says that by the word “دیا دیا” (“given, given”), which he said the second and third time after “میں نے طلاق دیا” (“I have given talaq”), he intended only reporting (khabar) or emphasis (ta'kid)
