Tayammum in Place of Ghusl Due to Shortness of Time
Question
If it ever happens that ghusl has become fard upon us, and in the morning we wake up at a time when ten or five minutes remain before sunrise, and there is no water in the house, and if we bring water from outside and perform ghusl the prayer will become qada’ (missed) — in such a situation should one perform tayammum in place of ghusl and offer the prayer on time (ada’), or perform ghusl and offer the prayer as qada’?
Answer
In such a situation tayammum is not permitted: perform ghusl and pray; if the time does not remain, pray it as qada’. But when you take care to rise early, there will be no qada’.
