Istinja' with a Clod for Women

Question

Is it necessary for women to use a clod of earth when performing istinja', or not?

Answer

After urination, women, unlike men, do not need to use a clod for istibra' (making sure that the flow of urine has stopped). [ar]وَلَا تَحْتَاجُ الْمَرْأَةُ إِلَى ذَلِكَ، أَيِ الِاسْتِبْرَاءِ الْمَذْكُورِ فِي الرَّجُلِ[/ar] “And the woman does not need that, i.e. the istibra' mentioned regarding the man” (Maraqi al-Falah).
