A Pig Fell into the Water — the Ruling on That Water
Question
A pig fell into Zayd’s well; after falling it remained in the well for about eight hours. The pig had been injured in the snout and blood was flowing, all of which kept mixing into the water. A rope was looped around the pig’s neck and it was pulled out alive. The pig was fixed as the wage for drawing out the well’s water: whoever drew out the water would be given this pig.
Answer
In such a case it was necessary to draw out all the water. If all the water can be drawn out — [that is, the well] is not such that water keeps springing up all the time and never runs out — and still only half the water was drawn out, then the well has not become pure; it has remained impure.
