A Mouse Swelled Up in a Well, and Food Was Cooked with Its Water

Question

A mouse died in a well and swelled up; after that, food was cooked with that very water. Is it permissible to eat it or not? Everyone knew of the mouse’s death, and [still] the food was cooked.

Answer

Since it is known that a mouse fell into this well, died and swelled up, and food was nevertheless cooked with water taken from this well, that food is impure (najis); it is not permissible to eat it. [ar]ويُحكم بنجاستها مغلَّظةً من وقت الوقوع إن عُلم[/ar] “And [the well] is ruled impure with heavy (mughallaza)
