Wudu with Water Whose Colour and Taste Have Changed Due to Medicine
Question
The medicine that the government puts into wells to ward off cholera and other diseases, because of which the colour and smell [of the water] change — what is the ruling on that water? And what is the ruling if the colour and smell do not change? We hope you will inform us with a satisfying and sufficient answer and oblige us.
Answer
If, through the mixing in of some pure solid substance, all the properties of the water change without cooking, but the water remains in its thinness (riqqa) and fluidity (sayalan), and its name changes and a new name arises, then wudu with such water is valid.
