Masturbation Breaks the Fast

Question

Is the habit of masturbation (jalq) wrong from a religious point of view or not? Ghusl and wudu, of course, become wajib because of it, but what effect does it have on the fast when one is fasting? And is the one who does it as sinful as an adulterer?

Answer

From a religious point of view it is wrong — an impermissible sin, and the fast will be broken by it. One who does this does not deserve the punishment for adultery: the hadd for adultery will not be carried out on him.
