The ruling on the regular sunnas (sunan rawatib) for a traveller

Question

(1) What is the ruling on the sunnas for a traveller? (2) Zayd says that during a journey the sunnas have the status of nafl. Is this correct? (3) A certain person says that the sunnas are excused for a traveller. How is it to say this? (4) Are the sunnas excused in any other state besides travel? Kindly inform us of the view of the scholars of Deoband on the four particular questions mentioned.

Answer

In the noble hadith there is emphasis on the sunnas, and for one who abandons the sunna without an excuse there is the threat of being deprived of intercession (shafa'a), so one should keep to the sunnas as far as possible.
