A traveller who intends to return the same day shortens the prayer

Question

A traveller left home with the intention of [covering] one thousand miles, and he also intends to return the same day. Will he shorten the prayer (qasr) or not?

Answer

Until he returns to his home he will shorten: whichever prayers of that day he performs outside his homeland (watan), he should not perform them in full merely because of the intention to return that same day.
