The journey is reckoned from the last house of one’s homeland

Question

How is the distance from one city or small town to another city or small town to be added up for [the ruling of] qasr? One way is [to take] the distance from the quarter one sets out from to the quarter of the other city one needs to reach; the second way is [from] the last boundary of one’s homeland to the starting boundary of the place one is arriving at.

Answer

The distance of the journey begins from the last house of the homeland, and the total distance up to the starting boundary of the settlement one is going to is what is considered. Hence, in the case asked about, the distance of the journey will be 43 miles, and the ruling of qasr will not apply.
