Does a son-in-law shorten (qasr) or pray in full (itmam) at his in-laws’ home?
Question
Will a traveller shorten the prayer (qasr) at his in-laws’ home or not?
Answer
If he is a son-in-law living in his wife’s family home — that is, it was stipulated that the girl will always live in her parents’ home and will not be sent off to her husband’s family — then on arriving there he will not shorten: that place has become his homeland (watan).
