Prayer in a bullock cart
Question
In “Bihishti Zewar” (“Heavenly Ornaments”, Akhtari edition, vol. 2, p. 50) it is written that praying on a standing bullock cart is prohibited. What is the reason for this? The prohibition of “salat al-rahila” (prayer on a riding animal) applies when the litter (mahmil) rests entirely on the animal's back; if the litter is propped up with a stick or the like in such a way that the end of the litter comes to be above the ground, then in that case it is written in “Nur al-Idah” and other books that it is permissible…
Answer
Setting aside the rest of the discussion, one point is that in a bullock cart the qiyam is abandoned, since there is not that much room in it.
