How to pray on a train

Question

On a journey, inside a train, are standing (qiyam) and [facing] the qibla direction necessary or not? May one pray sitting, or facing whichever way one’s face happens to be, or not?

Answer

If, while being able to [observe] standing (qiyam) and facing the qibla, one abandons either of the two, the prayer will not be valid. Whether on a journey or at home, on a train or on a ship — the ruling for all is the same.
