How a resident latecomer (masbuq) completes the prayer behind a travelling imam
Question
If a latecomer (masbuq) behind a travelling imam caught one rak'a of the Zuhr prayer, should the masbuq then stand or sit in the second rak'a? And should he recite something or remain silent?
Answer
After the imam's salam this person should pray one rak'a without recitation (qira'a) and sit, recite the tashahhud, pray the second rak'a without recitation and stand up, and pray the third rak'a with recitation. So it is in Shami, vol. 1, p. 623.
