A travelling follower following a travelling imam with the intention of four rak'as
Question
A travelling imam is leading the prayer. Another person, a follower who is [also] a traveller, does not know that the imam is a traveller, and he made the intention for four rak'as. The travelling imam gave the second salam. Should the one who came later now complete four rak'as and give the salam, given that he too is a traveller?
Answer
The travelling follower who caught one rak'a with the travelling imam should, after the imam's salam, pray one rak'a and give the salam. The fact that, not knowing the imam's state, he had made the intention for four rak'as will have no effect.
